Registration & Payment\u00a0Procedure<\/h2>\n

- Send an email to\u00a0wci.for.isoecol2016@wci-jp.com<\/a> stating (a) your name (same as IsoEcol 2016 registration) and (b) your preferred field trip<\/li>\n
- An application form will be sent by reply email<\/li>\n
- Payment will be direct, in cash, prior to the field trip*<\/sup><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

- All Field Trips will take place on Wednesday April 7th<\/sup> 2016.<\/li>\n
- The payment amounts*<\/sup> detailed below are for guidance only, they may be reduced\u00a0depending on the number of\u00a0participants for each field trip.<\/li>\n
- A field trip option may be cancelled if there are insufficient registrants; in this case delegates will be given the option to transfer to another open field trip.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

\n<\/a>Field Trip #1: Tokyo<\/h1>\n
Sensoji, Asakusa<\/p><\/div>\n

- Departs: 10:00<\/li>\n
- Returns : 18:00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
This trip will allow delegates to take in a number of Tokyo’s most famous locations, including the Tsukiji Fish Market, Asakusa district, Tokyo Tower and the Kabuki-za theater. \u00a0Tsukiji Market<\/a> is “a must if you are into fish”; even if you are not, the array of seafood available here daily will astound.<\/p>\n
Tokyo Tower<\/p><\/div>\n
Due to relocate in late 2016, this is a unique opportunity to see the historic market before it closes for ever.\u00a0The Asakusa district is famous for its Sensoji Temple<\/a> (Asakusa Kannon Temple) & Nakamise shopping street<\/a>. Nakamise comprises the 300m approach to the temple, and is\u00a0one of the oldest shopping districts in Japan, dating back to the late 17th century. \u00a0 Delegates will tour the street and temple before having lunch overlooking the district in the Asakusa View Hotel. \u00a0Traveling past the Imperial Palace, the trip will move to Tokyo Tower <\/a>where delegates will be admitted to the large observatory. \u00a0The trip will end with a tour of the Kabuki-za<\/a>, Tokyo’s premier kabuki theater.<\/p>\n
\n<\/a>Field Trip #2:\u00a0Nikko World Heritage Area<\/h1>\n
Nikko Toshogu Shrine,<\/p><\/div>\n

- Returns : 19:00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Surrounded by the serenity of nature, the famous sites of Nikko include a\u00a0magical shrine complex and beautiful natural scenery. The tour will start with a visit to the Nikko Toshogu Shrine<\/a>, a National Treasure of Japan.<\/p>\n
Kegon Falls, Nikko<\/p><\/div>\n
Constructed in 1636 and decorated with more than 500 carvings, the ornate Yomeimon Gate is the best-known and most symbolic feature of this\u00a0Shrine in its natural setting.\u00a0Following lunch in a local restaurant, delegates will travel to the scenic\u00a0Lake Chuzenji<\/a>\u00a0nearby followed by\u00a0Kegon Waterfall<\/a>, the most famous of several waterfalls in Nikko National Park.<\/p>\n
\n<\/a>Field Trip #3: Mt. Fuji<\/h1>\n

This tour will take delegates to Mt. Fuji<\/a>, an active volcano near Tokyo that is a well known symbol of Japan. \u00a0Travelling the Fuji Subaru Line<\/a>, delegates will visit the Fuji Visitor Center and Fuji 5th Station<\/a> where lunch will be provided.<\/p>\n
Shirato Falls<\/p><\/div>\n
After lunch delegates will visit the\u00a0Fugaku Wind Cave<\/a>, a National Monument of Japan. \u00a0In the past, the\u00a0cave\u00a0was used as a natural refrigerator to keep silkworms.\u00a0Echoes do not occur in the\u00a0cave because the wall of basaltic rock has a property which absorbs sound.\u00a0Crossing the\u00a0Asagiri Plateau<\/a>\u00a0delegates will visit Shiraito Falls<\/a>, listed as one of Japan’s “Top 100 Waterfalls.<\/p>\n
\n<\/a>Field Trip #4:\u00a0Kamakura – Ancient Capital of Japan<\/h1>\n

Kamakura, a\u00a0short one-hour train ride from Tokyo, is one of the old capitals of Japan. While not as well known as Kyoto or Nara, the city has much to offer. A century ago, one of Japan’s great modern poets, Yosano Akiko, marveled at the good looks of the Great Buddha welcoming you to Kamakura.<\/p>\n
Great Buddha, Kamakura<\/p><\/div>\n
The city’s oldest resident, a 1,000 year old ginkgo tree, stands as a witness to the history and life of the old capital from its home within the serenity of a Shinto shrine.\u00a0This bus tour includes a trip along the Bayshore Route to Yokohama where delegates will visit Sankeien Garden<\/a> and have lunch in Yokohama’s 150 year old China Town<\/a>.\u00a0Moving to Kamakura the trip will include tours\u00a0of The Great Buddha<\/a> and Engaku Temple<\/a>, and admission to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine<\/a>.<\/p>\n
\n<\/a>Field Trip #5:\u00a0Tokyo\u00a0Seaside<\/h1>\n
Tokyo Skytree<\/p><\/div>\n

This tour will travel from Tokyo’s old downtown to the Tokyo bay seaside, taking in Skytree, the Asakusa District, Kasai Seaside Park and Odaiba. \u00a0Tokyo Skytree<\/a> is the tallest tower in the work at 634 m. \u00a0Delegates will be admitted to the 350 m high observation deck where spectacular\u00a0views of Tokyo are possible, and even Mt. Fuji in good weather. \u00a0Adjacent to Skytree, the Asakusa district is famous for its Sensoji Temple<\/a> (Asakusa Kannon Temple) & Nakamise shopping street<\/a>. Situated in this park is the glass dome of the “Kasai Seaside Aquarium”, which looks as if it is floating in Tokyo Bay, “Bird Park” where you can observe the wonders of nature including many wild birds and the “Crystal View” glass-walled observatory that is truly exquisite at dusk.<\/p>\n

You can also enjoy an air walk (time permitting) on a giant Ferris wheel 117 meters tall. It commands a panoramic view of Kanto’s famous sightseeing spots from Tokyo Disneyland Park to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Tower, from the Boso-hanto Peninsula to Mt. Fuji.
